Random thoughts after last night’s games

17 06 2008

KB finished her season last night and her team is 1-9.  Sounds disappointing but considering the league just about forced a parent to coach, we only had one pitcher (so no relief) and many other factors, it wasn’t bad.  The girls had fun and of course that is what matters the most.

CT’s team is still undefeated.  They won 4 games in a preseason tournament, 9 games so far in the regular season and will be definitely in the district playoffs.  He has awesome coaches and a really great team, who have been exceptionally nice to the rookie.

Neither kid has had a hit at the plate but that’s ok.  Life goes on.

The X pissed me off.  He has not been to all the games, meaning it has been my pocketbook funding our kids’ trips to the concession stands all season long.  Last night he was there and he refused to buy food for KB, who was hungry.  But that’s ok, I pointed her in the direction of a smart guy who had free puppies to give away.  She kept begging him for another puppy.  Now mind you, we have one at our house and he has 3 at his house, so honestly the kids have not been dog-deprived.  She carried one toward me in the stands and without her saying a word to ask, I said NO.  The parents around me just died laughing.  Its ok, because sooner or later, all of their kids did the same thing.

WT started football conditioning camp.  I guess it went ok, he only threw up 5 times.  But he will definitely be in better shape for it when two-a-days start up.  He told me last night that he does like working out, just a lot more with others.  I really hope he can feel this way a lot longer than just during his school years.

This pic cracks me up

She hasn’t lost the attitude in the 7 years since this was taken and he is just as laid back as ever.  Until he has had enough and then he digs his heels in and she knows she has pushed him too far.

Too funny

What is on one of the History Channel tonight?  Banned from the Bible.  Timely huh?

C is really enjoying it.  He is such a different child.  KB is sleeping, she can’t seem to stay awake tonight.

So I get this phone call

15 04 2008

(No not the one I am looking forward to, fingers crossed that is tonight)

And the kids are saying I need to call the principal.  Well my first thought is what has happened that he isn’t calling me?  It turns out because KB is in a tutoring class taught by said principal and they have a confusing math problem, they want me to call him for clarification.

The confusing math problem is  8 _ 7 = _.  I think it is explained either by asking for the product or it is letting them make up a problem and answer it.  However, I doubt it warrants a call to the principal for a single math question.

I really could use a margarita.

The start of a new sport

9 04 2008

Baseball/softball season starts next week.  I got the schedule and amazingly only once do the kids both play at the same time.  I do have one complaint – games that start at 8 pm on a school night!  Sheesh, am I the only one who has kids who are in bed no later than 9 pm?  Sadly only on opening day do we have Saturday games.  I think this is because of the large number of kids who also play select ball.

KB had a scrimmage last night which I missed.  She was so scared to go play in it because she is used to her team and didn’t want to play with other girls.  However afterwards she loved it, especially since her team was way superior to the other team.  She fouled off two pitches, which made her happy just to make the connection.

I have really screwed my kids by not having them play for the last 4-5 years.  These kids are amazing players and are very patient with my kids being first years.  All I want is for them to have fun and maybe find something they really love.  Luckily I have T who loves football so my favorite sport is covered.

Oh and T is now squatting 235.  Not bad for a 14 year old!

I’m just an evil mean mom

8 04 2008

I’m sure the moms out there in the world have heard this before.  The twins had a program at school yesterday involving baby tiger cubs.  Today they could have their picture taken with the cub for a mere $18 per picture.  I have to give the people doing it credit, they sold it well as I got the entire song and dance about the money helps to go to preserving something or another, yadadahaha.  Well of course I couldn’t do for one without the other so I would be looking at $36 for two pictures.  Yeah right.  I’m just not made out of money and this is just a bit extreme.  So as nicely as I could I explained to the kids how I just can’t justify that much money right now.  That went over so well.  Well kids, you are just fuck out of luck.  That’s the way of the world.

Sigh.
